The cooler pattern comes just in time for the Mother's Day holiday weekend. A few showers could develop as early as Saturday afternoon and evening. Here in the metroplex, the chance of rain will remain low Saturday until evening, when showers and even a few elevated thunderstorms could sweep through. Rainfall totals will be light, and severe weather is not expected
The main round of widespread rain and thunderstorms will arrive on Sunday. It would be a good idea to keep those Mother's Day plans either inside or flexible (if planning to be outside). The highest chance of rain will be during the middle of the day. While this may come as bad news, there is some good news - the severe weather threat again appears to be very low.
Additional storm chances are in the forecast for next week, along with a warming trend.
