The Eagle Mountain-Saginaw Independent School District bus was transporting 41 students to Highland Middle School when it crashed into the van in the 900 block of East Harmon Road in Haslet just after 8 a.m., according to police.

District spokeswoman Kristin Courtney said the bus crashed into the Children's Courtyard van when its driver pulled into the road in front of the bus.

"He was saying that one of the day care buses pulled out and the bus had to slam on his brakes. The kids could see it coming, my son put his arm in front of his face," said Mia Latimer, parent of a 7th grader. "My first instinct is, 'I need to come get my baby!' Of course that’s my first instinct. And he was like, 'Don’t come get me mom.'"

Medical responders are checking students at the scene, Courtney said.

"It was terrifying. It scared me," said Abraham Hernandez, 8th grade student. "It was like, 'Oh, I can tell we’re going to crash. We were slowing down, but not slowing down in time."

Another bus has been requested to take students to school

MedStar spokesman Matt Zavadsky said they transported two adults to nearby hospitals with minor injuries.
