NBC 5 Forecast: Cold front brings cooler air and spotty storms

A cold front will bring a chance of thunderstorms this evening

NBC Universal, Inc.

Warm and muggy weather will fuel a few late afternoon and evening thunderstorms. While they won't last long, some storms could be severe with large hail and damaging wind gusts. Storm coverage will be rather scattered so not everyone will get a storm.

The cold front pushing through North Texas today will usher in much cooler weather for Friday and the weekend. High temperatures will only climb into the 60s on Saturday and Sunday. In addition, more rain is set for the start of the weekend. In fact, some areas could receive over 2" of rain on Saturday. A couple showers could stretch into Sunday morning, but the bulk of the wet weather this weekend will be on Saturday.

Dry and sunny weather will start next week. Temperatures will gradually warm back up in to the 80s by midweek.
